Stripe Guide

Welcome to Stripe Guide.  This guide will help you register for Stripe as a new merchant.  Stripe allows businesses to accept payments over the Internet.

Open Stripe Account

Here is how to open a new Stripe account.

Step 1: Register

a. Head to https://dashboard.stripe.com/register and fill out the first form.  

b. Provide your email and password and click on Create your Stripe account button.


c.  You will then be presented with a Welcome screen with links to some further guides.  We highly encourage you to familiarize with those guides.

Step 2: Confirm Your Email

a.  Check your email.  You should receive a "Confirm your Stripe email address!" email with a link to confirm your email address.

b.  Click on that link and provide your password.

c.  If you are presented with a Welcome screen again, just click "Go straight to your dashboard" link.

Step 3: Switching to Live Mode

a.  Stripe has 2 modes, Test and Live.  In Test mode, any credit card transactions you perform are fake.  In Live mode, transactions are real.

b.  By default, you start in a Test mode.  Switch to Live mode now by clicking on the toggle at the top left corner:

   

c.  At your first attempt to switch to Live mode, you will be asked to Activate your account

d. You will now be presented with an application form.  Your account will become active once you complete that form.  You will need to provide some personal information for Stripe to verify who you are.  For example, you will need your banking information so that Stripe can deposit the money into your bank account.

e.  Once your application form is submitted, usually your account becomes Live right away.  This means that you are now ready to connect Stripe to TapMango.

Step 4:  Provide TapMango with Stripe API Keys

a.  Stripe API keys let TapMango charge customers on your behalf through variety of TapMango tools, such as Instant Deals and Wallets.

b.  In Stripe, look for Your account menu at the top right, and select Account Settings:

c.  Now click on API Keys menu

d.  Now copy and paste all of the keys and email them to your account manager or to support@tapmango.com. Please include the name of your business in the subject line. Our onboarding team will configure your TapMango account with these keys.

e.  You are done for now, we will take it from here.



Stripe FAQ

Q: How can I see how much money I've accumulated in Stripe?

A: Stripe Dashboard, which is also your home page in Stripe, will show you Total Volume, which is the overal dollar amount you've sold so far.


Q:  When can I expect Stripe to deposit the money into my Bank Account?

A:   After your first sale, it will take about 7 days for Stripe to transfer accumulated dollar amount to your bank account.  Subsequent transfers take about 2 business days.


Q:  How can I see my recent transactions.

A:  In this case, transactions imply credit card charges TapMango performed on your behalf to charge customers for an Instant Deal you may have run, or for eWallet load.  Simply click on Payments under Transaction menu to see most recent transactions.


Q:  How can I issue a refund to a customer?

A:   You can issue refunds directly from TapMango.  Go into TapMango portal, find the customer, go into History and find "Purchased Instant Deal" transaction that you'd like to refund.  Now simply click the "Refund" link, confirm, and you're done.  Customer should see a refund on their credit card immediately.


Q:  Are there extra fees associated with charging credit cards through Stripe?

A:  Yes.  Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 on each transaction.  At this point, TapMango doesn't charge any extra fee for this feature.


Q: I no longer want TapMango to have access to my API keys.  How do you I do that?

A: Log into Stripe, go to Account Settings, then go to API Keys, and hit refresh icon on all your API keys.  This will reset your API keys, and the ones you previously provided to TapMango will no longer be valid.
